Dynamic articulated shackles kit, realised in Italy with C45 steel bolts and brass bushings, fully galvanized and coated with epoxy powder.
Their structure avoids the malfunction due to the excessive torsion of the leaf-springs, unlike what happens with the classic shackles - of any shape, model and manufacturer, including classic openable shackles – whereby the maximum excursion is penalized because of the axle’s inclination, that is hampered by the shackle fixed on the chassis.
Dynamic shackles cannot be completely opened, even with long shock absorbers. It negatively affects the twist and weakens the leaf-springs, which cannot tolerate that torsion; thus, it implies a dissipation of the driving force, in order to counter the leaf-spring's torsion resistance, by reducing the traction when wheels are on the ground.
These types of shackles allow a three-axes movement:
The first joint OPENS the shackle to double its center distance and gives the leaf-springs more excursion. The open center distance is of 23cm, while when all closed is 120mm. This articulation is made on brass bushings.
The second joint CAN ROTATE 360°. Actually, when the leaf-springs are fixed, the rotation changes of a few degrees, namely those needed to adapt the axle’s position to the different lenght of the leaf-springs in twist position - when the leaf-spring's center distance is in compression, there is an elongation and when it is in extension, there is a shortening! This articulation is lubricated with an external greaser.
The third joint CAN ROTATE LATERALLY, in order to follow the rotation of the axle relative to the frame and it also avoids the torsion of the leaf-springs. This articulation is made on brass bushings.
In order to benefit from these shackles’ features, it is necessary to install longer shock absorbers, at least of +8”.
There is not any block on the shackles, since on-road does not occur any stability reduction.
We recommend to not mount these shackles on the front axis, because the high excursion could damage the drive shaft.
These shackles are recommended for off-road use or for heavy-duty use.
